Group Presentation Grades

Below I've listed 2 scores for each group. The first score is the grade that group has received from me, the second is the average score of your peers. Only the first score counts in the final grade average. All groups did a remarkable job and should be proud of their presentation. You will all receive the rubric with comments at our next meeting.

Group A Score1: 92.5 Score 2: 78.1 (it's always tough going first)

Group B Score 1: 89.5 Score 2: 88.3

Group C Score 1: 96.5 Score 2: 93.8

Group D Score 1: 91.5 Score 2: 89.1

Sample Comment

http://witcombe.sbc.edu/ARTHLinks.html
Art History Resources on the Web: Created and maintained by Professor Christopher Witcombe of Sweet Briar College, Virginia, this is one of the first Web sites of its kind. Arguably the best and most comprehensive compilation of art and art history content on the Internet, the site provides a massive gateway to just about everything that you need to get started, from the general to the specific. The site includes a section on art outside of European traditions, as well as a very informative section on research resources in art history. One could spend months on this site alone and still would not have turned over all of its stones.

Assignment: Utilizing the Internet as a Research Resource

Part I

Prepare a guide that introduces others to information sources in your subject field.

In this assignment, you will be working within your assigned research groups to prepare a guide and post it as a comment within the College Insights Blog to be discussed next week in class.

This guide should provide others with a list of three authoritative and comprehensive sites in which information on your chosen topic can be accessed.
Beside each site address, list 1 to 3 major concepts or ideas you were able to utilize from that site's information, and be prepared to discuss why and how that site was chosen to be included in your research.

Part II

Topic: In a one paragraph statement, address the following question.

On Feb. 28, 1971, a bombing at the U.S. capitol created a radical change in Washington policy and in national attitudes. How does that past historical situation relate to contemporary events in our country?

1. Keep a "research log" documenting where you look for information, analyzing what techniques worked and what didn't, and discussing how the material found affected your thinking on the topic.

2. Write down all keywords and phrases you used in searching information on this topic.
